Dr. Katherine M. Adams, DPM

Katherine M. Adams, DPM, graduated from the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in 2016. Dr. Adams completed her reconstructive foot and ankle residency at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Boston, as well as externships at the renowned New England Baptist and Brigham Women’s Hospital. She joined Southwest Austin Foot & Ankle Clinic in 2019.

Dr. Adams has trained in complex foot and ankle surgery as well as traumatology under noted leaders such as Drs. John Marcoux and David Calderella. During her tenure in Boston, she trained under team physicians for the Celtics, Bruins, Red Sox and the Boston ballet. She has been involved in medical and scientific research that has won numerous awards and she continues to be actively involved in research that improves patient care and outcomes.

On staff at all of the major hospitals in Austin, including the St. David’s and Seton hospital systems, Dr. Adams is an active surgeon and podiatric hospital consultant. She also provides podiatric care for a variety of skilled nursing and assisted living facilities in the greater Austin area.

Dr. Adams focuses on a biomechanical approach to the treatment of lower extremity pathology. As an active person herself, Dr. Adams understands the importance of restoring the patient to their desired activity level while avoiding surgery whenever possible. When surgical interventions are required, she employs the latest techniques and methods to ensure successful outcomes. She specializes in sports related injuries, fracture care, arthritis, neurological disorders, and limb salvage. She has a particular interest in pediatrics and helping families understand, manage, and treat foot and ankle problems in children.

As a native Austinite, Dr. Adams is happy to be back in her home city and warm weather! She enjoys a wide variety of outdoor activities, including mountain biking, kayaking, skiing, and hiking. She lives in south Austin with her husband and daughter, and can be found cooking BBQ on the weekends.
