Dr. Jaya S. Rajagopalan, DPM

Jaya S. Rajagopalan, DPM, is Board Certified with the American Board of Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Rajagopalan is a graduate of the California School of Podiatric Medicine at Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, CA. During her training, she completed multiple externships at programs such as Swedish Medical Center, Boston University, and Kaiser Santa Clara. She then completed her competitive podiatric surgical residency at the Palo Alto VA in California. Dr. Rajagopalan, or “Dr. J,” as her patients like to call her, joined Southwest Austin Foot and Ankle Clinic 2021.

 

On staff at all of the major hospitals in Austin, including the St. David’s and Seton hospital systems, Dr. Rajagopalan is an active surgeon and podiatric hospital consultant. She also provides podiatric care for a variety of skilled nursing and assisted living facilities in the greater Austin area. 

Dr. Rajagopalan believes in exhausting all conservative treatment options before pursuing more invasive, surgical techniques. She works closely with her patients to develop individualized treatment plans that are tailored to their circumstances and needs. She has expertise in diabetic limb salvage and wound care, having studied under Dr. Jefferey Spanko and Dr. Alexander Reyzelman, who are both well-known wound care specialists. Dr. Rajagopalan also enjoys caring for foot and ankle problems such as heel pain, ingrown nails, arthritis, and much more. She treats a wide variety of podiatric conditions in both the office and surgical settings.

A native Texan, Dr. Rajagopalan was born in Austin, Texas, spent the majority of her childhood in Dallas, and is happy to return back home. She is fluent in Tamil and conversational in Hindi. Her passions outside of work include traveling, singing, classical Indian dance, and reading. Her entrepreneurial ventures include founding a tutoring company and a budding catering business for high teas! She is also an active volunteer for Chinmaya Mission as a mentor for students in K-12th grade, and is very involved in the local Hindu church community. She loves spending time with her family and friends, and is a proud mother to her fur baby, Bellaluna, an American Shorthair cat.
